The probably not all that important preliminary blog post

Welcome welcome to my silly little place on the internet. I really want to be able to keep all those I love updated frequently about my adventures in India without bombarding your inboxes so here you are. I'm going to sound like Tom here and do some self promotion by asking you all to leave me comments keeping me updated about your lovely lives (No hard feelings to Tom!). But that would be nice, hint hint!

I haven't quite come to terms with the fact that I will be leaving the continent in less than month. There are times, like while purchasing the most odd array of products from Target with my mother (anti-diarrhea meds, anti-fungal cream, enough tampons for a city block, and massive mountains of underwear....), that it really hits me that I'm leaving. During most of the time though, the thought kind of lingers in the background of everything I do and I try to ignore it. In someways the idea that I'm leaving has really made me approach situations with the notion that I won't be able to partake in them for a long time and come to appreciate them and the people around me more (how cheesy and trite, I know!). Such as today, mom couldn't cut into our Christmas squash and after trying for some time, asked dad to help to which he immediately suggested getting out the router saw and hacking it in half in a very central/northern Wisconsin manner that I know I'll miss:

So happy happy times to all of you. I'll be leaving Stevens Point on Sunday after a really nice time back home to head back to Madison for a couple days and then to the Cake concert in Milwaukee on New Years with the boy and a couple friends. Afterwhich, we're driving down to Austin for one last fully American road trip.

Much love!

PS - I am now in the presence of one sweet webcam which I will be bringing with to India. If anyone wants to talk while I'm overseas, Jaipur is 12.5 hours time difference from here (before the spring forward day light savings thingy) and I would love to!
